“Ultimate Mod Board II” (PAL) – PCB Connector Reference

There are six connectors available on the “Ultimate Mod Board II” PCB. These are labeled J1 through J6.

The three primary (required) connectors are:

  • J1 – Supplies the source analog RGBS Video input, Master Clock, and also a Mono Audio input (if required).
  • J2 – Supplies the required 5v regulated power to the board.
  • J4 – Provides the standards compliant (and DC decoupled) S-VIDEO and Composite Video outputs, and a decoupled Mono Audio output (if the Mono Audio input was utilised). These outputs are suitable for direct connection to the display (TV).

Two secondary connectors provide for secondary functions:

  • J3 – Provides connections for the intelligent conversion of a momentary pushbutton into a multi-function button, to allow for switching a digital function. This is intended for utilising an existing “Pause” or “Reset” pushbutton to control 50Hz / 60Hz mode switching (via a >1 second press), as well as passing through the original pushbutton function (via a momentary <1 second push).
  • J5 – Utilised in combination with the J3 multi-function button control, to provide a dual-colour power LED output which switches depending on the selected mode.

Finally, a sixth auxiliary connector provides for optional expansion:

  • J6 – Provides a buffered RGBS Video output (isolated from the source Video input). These are direct outputs, which have not been DC decoupled. Potentially for driving a separate YPrPb Component Video encoder circuit, or, could be utilised for a direct RGBS Video output (e.g. to a EuroSCART connector), via appropriate decoupling capacitors.
