Hi everyone,
I have been watching the videos since the wirewrap days, have always been impressed with the MECB concept and am working myself up to join in the fun in 2025. In the interrim I have been collecting many of the chips mentioned in the MECB series from hopefully reliable sources here in the UK, so progress should be reasonably brisk once I take the plunge, fingers crossed. I am especially looking forward to 68008 support coming along.
I have previously built Ben Eater's 6502 breadboard computer, had a brief skirmish with a breadboard TTL computer until I decided it wasn't worth the effort and also built a 6502 SBC. So, not a complete newbie, but still a lot to learn.
In the period 8-bit micros were current I was working in commercial IT and never got involved in games and the recreational side of computing. I eventually bought a Commodore 64, but used it for word processing, DTP and building databases. This may sound sad, but it did encourage me to buy a couple of PC/XT compatibles and start my own computer services business.
Happy New Year to everyone and I hope to be getting involved soon.
Roger
Hi
Re: Hi
Hi Roger,
Welcome onboard, and best wishes for the year ahead!
I've been a bit quiet in the lead-up to Christmas (due to other obligations), but I have several projects currently in mid-stream, and I'm looking forward to getting back into it in the new year. Including, eventually, getting on with my 68008 plans.
Thanks for sharing your background. Like many of us, our IT careers took over. So, it's great fun to be able to relive the early 8-bit days, either to return to a nostalgic period (with the benefit of modern tools and practices), or, simply to explore what was missed the first time around.
Have fun!

Re: Hi
Greetings Roger, I don't know how many other members there are in the UK. I live in North Yorkshire
I've never been into computer games much, I use them as tools for learning hardware and software.
Best regards, David.

Re: Hi
Hi David. I am down on the south coast, so not much chance I will be popping round for coffee and a chat unfortunately. Some forums put a flag icon on people's profiles so you can see what country they are are based, but for this one you don't have to state your country when you register, so I guess that won't be possible. Thanks for welcoming me to the group.
Best wishes,
Roger
Re: Hi
Thanks for welcoming me to the group. I am currently trying to tie up some loose ends from my 2024 projects, but then hope to get an order in for some boards and parts so I can make a start on phase 1 of my build. I plan to build both 6809 and 6502 processor boards straight off, so plenty to keep me busy.
Best wishes,
Roger
