A few years ago, when I was re-discovering my original digital electronics design and breadboard prototyping background, I decided there was a need for a better LED indicator solution.
On first look, the "8-bit LED Thing" is a breadboard friendly 8-bit LED Bar display in a wider 16 pin Dual In-Line package.
But, the secret behind the "8-bit LED Thing" is that it actually contains the brains of a tiny microcontroller, making it a little smarter than your average LED Bar Display.
I introduce, then program & test the "8-bit LED Thing", in my Video / Blog post that you can find here: 8-bit LED Thing - This is pretty cool!
Follow-up: I’ve since created a follow-up post / video, which provides a walk-through of Kitset Assemble, together with assembly tips.
This is highly recommended viewing, before assembling your “8-bit LED Thing” Kitset!

According to tracking, NZ Post received my parcel on the 14th July. Today I just received a notification from Royal Mail that they will be delivering it tomorrow the 22nd! Just 8 days from NZ to GB. I've had some GB deliveries that took longer

That's really awesome to hear! Fingers crossed. I think it's been typically more like 2 weeks for overseas delivery these days.
Have fun with them when they arrive. I've got one in my breadboard at them moment, helping me to debug some 8-bit AVR code. Super easy, compact, and no worries about an LED pulling-down the internal weak pull-up on my GPIO port pins!

Downside is I won't be here I'm leaving in about an hour for a week "holiday", not back until next Sunday... Something to look forward to
