I have converted and compiled DREAM Invaders but while doing so I realised that I really needed a keypad for it to work because it looks for keys down whereas the ACIA input doesn't quite provide that kind of signalling.
Good point. Yes, you'd want a keypad matrix to support gaming.

Once I get back from holidays it'll be my next fun thing to look at ... and sending off the final board just to clean things up so I can get back to 68008 goodness.
My "alpha" v2 68008 boards are in transit. Hopefully I'll have them by later next week, and then I can progress with the new PLD code testing.
When are you back from your holidays? I'm not going away this year, but I'll definately be distracted by family events over the Christmas / New Year period. Have an awesome holiday break!
I've just got boards back for my v1.0 design. The 6800 board is now a bit simpler and also uses the larger (but physically smaller package) memory device that was used in the MECB 6x09 and 6502 boards (which gives it a bit more flexibility with respect to how the memory map can be arranged). I've updated my GitHub with the latest design in case it is of interest to anyone:
