Standalone ROM code for 68008 + VDP9958 testing ?

Hi !

I've recently finished soldering MECB backplane, VDP with 9958 and 68008 boards,
but I'm missing the CPLD IC socket for the Motorola IO board.
So before I get the socket and complete the IO board, I'd like to test the other ones.

Could someone provide test code to flash in ROM that would output something on VDP without interaction ?
I've yet to learn 68k asm and board operation before I can do that myself...

Thanks all for your work and sharing it !

Hi Vincent, although I learnt 68008 assembler as one of the first micros I ever used I have not written any for probably more than forty years. Looking at it again just now remind of how neat it is. I'd be tempted to wait until you can get a simple monitor working with serial I/O as an initial exercise. In the meantime you can be honing you tool chain for easy building and studying some Motorola manuals. Emil on this forum has done a lot of good work with the 68008, perhaps he will have some better suggestions for you. Its been a bit quiet on here recently, good luck with your efforts David.

Thank you David for your reply.
I received the socket to complete the IO board today and now I can see tutor running :)
Didn't plug the VDP card yet since it's a bit late in the evening, plenty of fun for this week-end... (and beyond)
