DYI programmer for the ATF1502 CPLD

Post by PaulShipley »

Hi,

I have been exploring the ATMEL PLD devices, such as ATF16LV8C, ATF22V10C, and ATF1502AS. One of the things I found frustrating was the lack of clear, concise instructions and the scarcity of programmers for the ATF1502AS, so I developed my own. All the details are in my (lengthy) blog post (below)

https://paulshipley.id.au/articles/elec ... gic-atmel/

This post (and the programmer) should be helpful to anyone who needs to (re)program these chips for their MECB project(s).

Let me know if you find this useful, and I'm happy to discuss further.

Enjoy.

Greetings Paul, thanks for posting your informative articles, I enjoyed reading them
I need to get a better understanding of pld design and programming. I'm pleased to see you have a simple way to program the larger devices since not having anything to do this has put me off exploring them.
I'd look forward to hearing what else you have to offer.
Best regards, David

Thanks David.
I have found the Digital application to be quite useful for small projects or parts of larger projects, as you can move from GUI designs to Truth Tables and back again. The design can then be simulated for a virtual proof of concept.
I don't have any projects for the AFT1502 yet, but now that I have a process for programming them, I will find a use for them.
