MECB to RCbus bridge

Post by djrm »

One of my other retro microcontroller systems is based on the RC2014 with RCbus compatible cards. I was going to build some motorola cpu cards for my RCbus system but decided that MECB was more appropriate and, frankly with the DIN connectors, much better than the pins used on RC bus systems. However I have quite a few RCbus cards and want to be able to use them on my MECB system so I'm going to experiment to see if a simple bus conversion can be made to work - I expect it can.

The photo shows the start of this project, no wiring attempted yet with a small passive board connection the two busses together. The RCbus card shown is a VT82C42 PC keyboard decoder plugged into a SC207 bus extender. It would be nice to get a Z80 RomWbw working on the MECB too.

I'll report back here if I make any more progress.
Best regards, David.
