RetroChallenge 2024/10 (RC2024)

Post by Editor »

I've entered my primary October 2024 project intentions into the RetroChallenge 2024/10 competition.

Well, I don't really view it as a competition entry though, more a case of: "Tell someone else about your plans, to put more pressure on you actually carrying-through with those plans!".

Therefore, I've also created a Blog post to track my progress on this project (hopefully it goes to plan!). :geek:

You can find the Blog here: RetroChallenge 2024/10 (RC2024)

Updates: (added to the Blog linked above)
  • Mon 30 Sept - The original teaser and some background information, as an introduction to my intended October RetroChallenge project.
  • Mon 7 Oct - The first logical task was to do some work on proving that I could get some of my planned Keyboard firmware operational.
  • Mon 14 Oct - A big week! Successfully completing the firmware functions, completing the v1.0 schematic, and also publishing the CreatiVision Controller v2.0 major version upgrade.
  • Mon 21 Oct - The week spent mostly on creating, tweaking, and finalising the PCB layout design (and submitting for manufacture), and also the creation of the key-plate (via Fusion).

Fantastic!

Love that "Initial Comment"!

Thanks!

I just did it to push myself to fully complete my CreatiVision project. Although, I think I actually work better without any external time pressure being added. LOL

Not sure who added the "Initial Comment". Presumably one of the organisers.

RetroChallenge should give MECB lots of publicity, great.
I was surprised to see so few entries, when does submissions close?

I recall reading somewhere that they usually see a jump in the first week of October (last minute / late entries).

Other than this I don't really know. I had heard of RetroChallenge before, but I'd never really taken much notice of it.
This year, a reference to it popped up somewhere, and it tweaked my interest because of my "teaser" at the end of my last video.

Nothing like putting extra pressure on yourself!
