EPROM Adapter v1.1 update & back in stock!

Our EPROM Adapter for the TL866 EPROM Programmer has been updated to v1.1 for 2018!

If you’d like one of these Adapters, you’ll find a Kitset or a Fully Assembled & Tested option, on Tindie: https://www.tindie.com/stores/DigicoolThings/

The Fully Assembled & Tested Adapter is also available on eBay (Tindie is preferred): https://www.ebay.com/itm/284550002479

The v1.1 update now implements a “shaft & slot” Bank Select switch, to allow bank switching with just your fingers (screwdriver optional!). This required a PCB update as the switch pin arrangement is different. But it seemed a logical perfectionist’s tweak to this easy to use adapter, just to make it even more easier to use!

As mentioned, this update required a PCB revision to accomodate the new “shaft & slot” Bank Select switch, as it has a different pin layout to the prior v1.0 flush “screwdriver only” switch.

Interestingly, we could have sourced some “shaft & slot” Bank Select switches which were compatible with the existing v1.0 PCB layout.  However, one of our key design requirements is to only use a quality / reliably sourced switch.  Therefore, our first priority was to ensure that we had selected only the best quality “gold plated contact” switch.  This then dictated the PCB layout change to v1.1.

While updating the PCB layout we also took the opportunity for some small optimisation tweaks to the component location and some trace routing.  Finally, we added some additional “Device Select” switch silk screened markings to even more clearly indicate the “Device Select” switch’s selected device.

The transition to the v1.1 model occurred close to the Christmas holiday period, which unfortunately meant we ran out of v1.0 stock at the end of December, prior to the delivery of all the required parts to complete the new v1.1 stock.

However, after what seems like a long wait, we now have the v1.1 EPROM Adapters in-stock, and ready to same-day ship, as of 19 Jan 2018!
